The pass mark for each year is decided after the tests have been marked.
The topics have the following weighting: 50% English and verbal reasoning; 25% maths and 25% non-verbal reasoning.
Other Exam information
All questions are multiple choice.
Students will sit two papers, each lasting 45 minutes.
One paper includes comprehension, technical English and verbal reasoning.
The other includes non-verbal reasoning, spatial reasoning and maths.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to The Royal Latin School?
Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.
You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Does The Royal Latin School have a catchment area?
The Royal Latin School does have a catchment area. However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

How Does Place Allocation Work?
Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
Children in care: looked after and previously looked after children.
Children living in the catchment area of the school.
Siblings of children in Years 7 to 12 who are on the roll and will be on the roll of the school at the time of the proposed admission.
Children of school staff.
Children who have exceptional medical or social needs (e.g. registered young carers), which can be met only at this school, supported by written evidence from a doctor, social worker, educational welfare officer or other appropriate person.
Students who qualify for Pupil Premium (on census day of the academic year in which offers for places were made).
Up to 6 places to children whose standardised score in the Secondary Transfer Test is up to 11 marks below the threshold required for other applicants AND is a looked after or previously looked after children living anywhere, OR other children living in the catchment area of the school who are eligible for Pupil Premium.
Siblings of children who have previously been on the roll of the Royal Latin School.
Once the above rules have been applied, then any further places will be offered in distance order, using the straight-line distance between the familyβs normal home address, from their front door, and the schoolβs nearest entrance gate, offering the closest first.
