The pass mark for each year is decided after the tests have been marked.
The topics have the following weighting: 50% English and verbal reasoning; 25% maths and 25% non-verbal reasoning.
Other Exam information
All questions are multiple choice.
Students will sit two papers, each lasting 45 minutes.
One paper includes comprehension, technical English and verbal reasoning.
The other includes non-verbal reasoning, spatial reasoning and maths.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School?
Applications to sit the entrance exam must be made on the school website over the summer before your child begins Year 6. You can register here.
You must also formally apply for a place at the school before midnight on the 31st of October (when your child is in Year 6) to be considered. You can find out more about applying for secondary schools in your local area here.

Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School does have a catchment area. However, entry to the school is based firstly on the scores achieved in the 11+ tests.

How Does Place Allocation Work?
Where qualifying applications exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order of priority:
A ‘looked after child’ or a child who was previously looked after.
Up to 10 places for children eligible for pupil premium living in catchment, who have not achieved a passing score but who have achieved a score of at least 110 in the admissions test.
Children eligible for free school meals living within the catchment.
Children who live in the School’s Priority Admissions Area.
Up to a maximum of 15 places for children who live in the school’s Priority Admissions area at the deadline for applications, 31 October 2020. In relation to this category only, all 15 places will be allocated by random lottery in front of an independent witness, in order to ensure that all children living within the Priority Admission Area have an equal chance of achieving a place.
Eligible children of staff who have been employed at the school for two or more years.
Children living in the catchment area of the school.
Siblings of children in Years 7 to 12 who are on the roll of the school at the time allocations are made and who are expected to be on the roll of the school at the time of the proposed admission.
Children who have exceptional medical or social needs which can only be met at this school supported by evidence as set out by Buckinghamshire County Council.
