Exam Information
Exam style — CAT4.
Exam types:
CAT4 (verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning)
English
Mathematics
Exam length — 72 minutes (CAT4) + 2x 15 minute exams (English and maths).
The CAT4 test is composed of 8 short tests assessing the following subsections of the four areas above:
Figure Classification (10 mins)
Figure Matrices (10 mins)
Verbal Classification (8 mins)
Verbal Analogies (8 mins)
Number Analogies (10 mins)
Number Series (8 mins)
Figure Analysis (9 mins)
Figure Recognition (9 mins)
Interviews — Candidates will be interviewed by a senior member of staff.
Pass mark — There is no fixed pass mark for the exams.
Other exam and entry information:
The CAT4 test is administered by GL Assessment and is an online assessment that examines verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning.
The entrance examination will take place in the January of year 6.
A non-refundable fee of £100 is paid to the school for registration.
A reference and school reports from the candidate’s current school will be requested.
On the interview day, after taking CAT4, candidates will be asked to complete a short English creative writing/comprehension task and a short mathematics test which will take 15 minutes each.
