Exam Information
Exam style — School’s own exam and CAT4.
Exam types:
Stage one — CAT4 Select (verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning)
Stage two — English and maths
Exam length — 72 minutes (CAT4), then 2x 1 hour exams (English and maths).
The CAT4 test is composed of 8 short tests assessing the following subsections of the four areas above:
Figure Classification (10 mins)
Figure Matrices (10 mins)
Verbal Classification (8 mins)
Verbal Analogies (8 mins)
Number Analogies (10 mins)
Number Series (8 mins)
Figure Analysis (9 mins)
Figure Recognition (9 mins)
Pass mark — There is no fixed pass mark for these exams but you must pass the CAT4 exams in order to be invited back for the second stage of examinations.
Other exam information —
The CAT4 Test is an online assessment that examines verbal, non-verbal, spacial and quantitive reasoning.
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) is administered in October of Year 6, and the school's own English and maths exams are set in January of Year 6.
Only after passing this, will your child be invited back to take the school’s own English and maths exams.
A registration fee of £65 is required to be paid before testing.
